We arrived at the Pismo Village Beach Resort right on schedule at 1:30pm on Tuesday afternoon. We got off to a great start by leaving Desert Hot Springs just before 8am. We were kind of sad to drive out waving good-bye to a few friends who were out for an early walk but they’ll be on there way home soon as well. We had a great 3 months and lots of wonderful memories of this stay.
What a great sight to see the ocean and beaches again
The drive was easy as the weather was perfect and we had no desert winds to contend with either. We approached the “belly of the beast” (aka Los Angeles) at 9:30 and even though we kept up a steady 55mph on the I-210 freeway going through the maze of traffic it still took over an hour before we reached the relative calm of the Pacific Coast Highway. Los Angeles is a zoo!!
We’ll be spending a lot of time walking this beach ‘till Friday!
The drive from Ventura, through Santa Barbara, and up the coast was absolutely beautiful. It was great to see the Pacific Ocean again and all the beaches along the California coast. From what we could see, Santa Barbara is a nice looking place and we made a note to stop and check it out next time we’re passing through.
Rylie loves Pismo Beach and ran for miles and miles and miles!
Our arrival at the Pismo Coast Village was a piece of cake. I had reserved a site and paid for it a few days ago, so all I had to do was go in, sign a form, and we were off to our site. It’s pretty nice with grass on both sides and lots of room. It must be spring break because the park is full and their are lots of families here – tons of kids everywhere, It’s kind of nice to see all the activity actually.
On one side of Hwy. 101 we had spectacular ocean views
This park seems more like a campground than an actual RV Resort – even though it is, as it comes complete with a swimming pool, general store and even a restaurant. But, walking around this evening there are lots of campfires going and people outside sitting around enjoying the warm California evening. It’s nice to smell the smoke from a wood fire again and to see all the folks outside.
On the other side there were fields of wild flowers
For dinner last night, we walked up the road to the village and since every cafe and restaurant was advertising “fish and chips” we thought we’d try that. We picked up a take-out order and headed down to a table on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean. It was a great place to eat and a complete contrast from our last 3 months in the deserts of the Palm Springs area.
There a lots of windblown, misshapen trees along this beach
Have a great Wednesday, and thanks again for visiting!
