Buying A New Printer Is Cheaper Than Ink Packs

When I woke up Friday morning and got out of bed, I was glad to realize that I felt perfectly o.k. with no aches, sore shoulders, elbows or knees following my slip and fall on the stone sidewalk Thursday.  I think it’s time I tossed out my old running shoes oout as there are no treads left on them at all and that’s probably the reason I’ve had a couple of slips on wet leaves and stones this past month.

We went for our walk in the Mill Bay Nature Park yesterdayIMG_6738

The strange thing is I’ve got a brand new pair of hiking runners in our front closet that I’ve never worn.  I’ve been saving them for the desert hikes down south.  Paulette just told me that if I don’t start wearing the new shoes I probably won’t be able to go on any desert hikes at all because of a broken ankle, leg or worse.  Maybe she has a point?  As the kids would say – DUH??

The ink cartridges on my Epson Workforce 310 printer have run dry and I’m really debating about replacing the cartridges or simply buying an entire new printer.  If I was to replace the 5 cartridges with original Epson ink the cost would be around $80.  Right now, Future Shop has a great sale on printers with HP, Epson, Canon and other models selling with greatly reduced prices.

I do like the Epson Workforce 310 printer but it is kind of big and bulky especially since we take it with us in the 5’er when we head down south.  Looking at new printers is a bit like sorting through a box of chocolates to find the flavor you like.  There are just way too many brands, types and styles.  A bit of research shows though that most of these printers have the same engine and are tuned to offer different speeds, bells and whistles.

After looking at dozens of different models on-line, I’ve pretty much settled on the Epson Stylus NX530 All-in-One.  This printer has a much smaller footprint than my Workforce 310.  Another advantage is it’s AirPrint-enabled for wireless printing from iOS devices like my iPad and iPhone.  For other computers, I can connect with a USB cable or use WiFi.  Now, I just have to find the place with the best price for this unit.  I expect it will cost between $75-$100.

Have a great Saturday, and thanks again for visiting!
