Into each holiday a little rain must fall and we got our first taste of rain here in Palm Springs yesterday. It was still a good day for me though as our planned sight-seeing trip to show Claire around was postponed so I didn’t have to get into my chauffeur’s uniform. The rain didn’t stop Paulette and Claire though as they headed off west on I-10 for the Cabazon Premium Outlet Mall. Amazing!!
The highlight of our laying-low day yesterday was going out for dinner with Garry and Sandy, Tom and Jennifer and Claire. We didn’t feel like driving into Palm Springs to one of the many nice restaurants so we just picked our favourite little Mexican joint down the road on Dillon. In the picture above, you can see Paulette sampling my Chicken Enchiladas while I’m busy taking photos.
All the quilters with their bags waiting for the bus to go home!
Looking at Paulette’s blog from yesterday, I noticed she had taken quite a few pictures. Since I didn’t do much of anything Friday, I thought I’d just show you a bit of the big trip they took to the quilt show. The Road to California Quilt Show in Los Angeles is to quilters what Quartzsite is to RVers. It’s the Holy Grail and then some.
Potted plants? The women take over most of the washrooms
To say that the women attending this show take over the entire, huge Ontario Convention Center is an understatement. They even commandeered several Men’s Washrooms for their own and just look what they did to them. Sure hope they take those plants out when this big quilt show is over this weekend!
Recession what recession? We’re saving money by making stuff!
Judging by the hordes of RVers at Quartzsite and the huge crowd at the Road to California Road Show, folks don’t seem to be suffering much from the effects of the recent recession. Being between both of these locations here in Palm Springs I can almost here the constant ka-ching, ka-ching of the cash registers (if anyone actually had cash registers anymore).
There’s Claire at the cash register contributing to the US economy
It’s back to work on Saturday. The Mad Quilters have informed me we’re off to San Diego first thing in the morning. The main goal is to visit the Country Loft Quilt Shop in La Mesa. The quilters will want at least an hour there so that will give me and the muttzo’s time to take the big bridge over to Coronado Island and check out some of the sights. It’s a 2 hour drive to San Diego from here.
Have a great Saturday, and thanks again for visiting!
