Our First Garage Sale & First Trivial Pursuit

Garage sales on a Saturday morning certainly aren’t my favourite activity by a long shot when we’re at home, but, here in Palm Springs I enjoy driving Paulette around and seeing the different neighbourhoods and in some cases the spectacular homes too.

We happened upon one of these homes yesterday where an Estate Sale was taking place in the old movie colony area of Palm Springs.

While Paulette was wandering around looking for bargoons, I took Molly and Rylie down the long driveway towards the backyard.  Sure enough, I found a beautiful patio complete with a large swimming pool and stairways up to a hot tub surrounded by Greek columns.

All of the windows and sliders in the home seemed to face out onto the patio and pool.  I would like to have known the history of this old home just to know if any famous movie star once lived here.

Paulette did manage to pick up a few small folding tables to add to her sewing collection – one for $10 and the other for $1.  I can’t complain about the price and they don’t take up much room either.  We were back at the Sands before noon and spent the rest of the afternoon just taking it easy.  I watched some of the NFL playoff game while Paulette was busy reading her latest book.

I’ve never been big on clubhouse events here at the park other than dinners or pancake breakfasts.  But, my friend Mel needed some help filling up his team for a game of Trivial Pursuit up at the clubhouse Saturday Night.  His wife, Deb, had deserted his team to join a few of her lady friends instead.  So, since Mel was in a pinch, Paulette and I volunteered.

There was a pretty big turnout for the 7pm start at the big Oasis Room.  It was just a bring your own snacks and refreshment type affair.  It turned out to be a lot of fun and out of the 15 teams our team, #6, came in second and pocketed $20.  We are going to put our huge windfall towards a dinner out somewhere!

Have a great Sunday, and thanks again for visiting!
