Never did get up to the pool for my first swim of the year even though the weather was perfect and a dip in the pool would have been quite nice. Instead, we dealt with setup issues like our satellite dish, dog fences, outdoor mats and chairs. Still, it was a good day.
Our site is beginning to look like home again
Getting the dog fence up was a real priority for us as now since our site is fenced right from the front, past the side entrance door and then a large area behind the 5’er, Molly and Rylie are free to come and go from the 5’er on their own. With the fence, we no longer have to worry about them taking off down the road visiting!
We have a nice open ‘wash’ area behind us
As most of you who have ever had to put up an exterior satellite dish know, it can be an easy 15 minute job or a complete nightmare. I thought I was on my way to the nightmare version but I managed to get a signal locked in after about an hour of trying. It was a bit frustrating because I locked in on a good signal in just 10 minutes.
Then, I simply adjusted one of the screws to tighten things up and wham – my strong signal vanished. I had only moved the dish a smidgen, yet it took me another hour of fiddling around before I was able to get a good strong signal score of 85. So, last night we were able to watch our Vancouver Newshour in clear HD.
A look at the Sands beautiful dog park
With that done, it was time for Paulette and I to tackle the job of putting up the dog fence and outdoor mats. We’ve pretty much got this job down to a real science after 5 years. I hammered small wooden support stakes into the gravel and as we unfolded the metal fences Paulette secured the fences to the stakes with zip-ties.
Once the dog fence was up it didn’t take very long for us to put down the mats and bring out the lawn chairs and tables. There’s really not much left to do as far as our site goes as it’s mostly small stuff now. It’s always nice to get these few jobs out of the way.
Molly and Rylie had been waiting patiently for us to finish up our tasks so it was time to take them to see all their friends at the dog park for the regular 3pm get together. There was a good turnout at the park with about a dozen pups and most of them were small which Molly and Rylie particularly like.
That was about it for our day here at the Sands. It’s been a great first day out in the sunshine even if we happened to be doing a bit of work. Hopefully, now it’s time for us to kick back and play a bit!!
Have a great Friday, and thanks again for visiting!
