All Settled In At The Sands RV Resort

We arrived at the Sands RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs just before 1pm yesterday after a relatively short drive from Bakersfield.  The weather was perfect all day with not a cloud in sight and the temperature on our arrival was 70F which was enough for me to abandon my jeans, sweatshirt and sneakers for shorts, a t-shirt and sandals.

Didn’t take me long to break out the shorts and t-shirtIMG_0502

Bakersfield was freezing when we left Tuesday morning, the windows on the truck were heavily frosted and took a while to clear.  One thing I really detest is trying to coil up a long 50amp electrical cable when it’s ice cold.  Those cables don’t coil well at the best of times but when they’re freezing it’s a real battle.

We’re in our  usual spot backing onto the ‘wash’IMG_0489

There are a few different routes from Bakersfield to Palm Springs but I chose to take what on paper is the longest route going directly to Barstow then taking I-15 down to San Bernardino and connecting with I-10 east right into Palm Springs.  I find it faster than the shorter  mileage route through some smaller towns.

Paulette and I both love the Palm Tree lined main dragIMG_0492

All of our registration papers were ready for us at the Sands when we arrived and it didn’t take long to get the rig backed into our site and set-up for our 3 month stay.  After 5 days of travel and packing and un-packing each night and morning we took the afternoon off.  We  decided we’d put up the dog-fence, satellite dish and the outdoor furniture and mats on Thursday.

Mid-afternoon, we took Molly and Rylie over to the huge dog-park here at the Sands and met several friends from prior years who were already here.  The muttzo’s also had fun meeting up with their doggie friends too – Lucy, Angel and Rose just to name a few.  Molly and Rylie have settled right in here again in familiar territory.

The little lake by the dog park is still the sameIMG_0513

Following that, we came back to the rig and I setup our laptops, iPads and Cradlepoint Router.  The Epson NX530 printer connected to the WiFi in a flash so we can print to it wirelessly from any laptop, iPad or iPhone.  They seem to have added a number of new router locations here at the park so I’m hoping that means the park’s free Wifi system will work even better than last year.

After a dinner of homemade spaghetti and meat sauce, we settled in for a quiet night of catching up on blogs, emails and a bit of reading before calling it an early night.  We’re both really looking forward to getting up with no long travel day ahead of us.  Pool time??  Yes.

Have a great Thursday, and thanks again for visiting!
