Not too long after we arrived here at the Sands RV Resort, Paulette began work on a quilt for Carrie’s first baby, and our first grandson, who is due this June. The theme of the quilt is a well known children’s song “Five Little Monkey’s Jumping On a Bed”. For her quilt, Paulette is going to change the border to “One Little Monkey Jumping On a Bed”! The quilt is almost finished so I thought I’d share a sneak preview!
In order to keep the baby quilt a bit of a surprise, I’m not allowed to show it in its entirety until it’s completely finished. But, with what I can show, I hope you’ll get the idea.
There is one monkey on this quilt and he is located near the right hand corner.
As for the size of the quilt – it’s “crib size” - whatever that is. I guess most baby cribs are a standard size come to think of it.
Paulette did a lot of hand stitching on this job to make the monkey’s face, nose and mouth as well as the buttons and a few other features I know nothing about. And no, I did not pose for this!!
I never really expected to be blogging about a ‘Quilt’ when I started this RV blog almost 4 years ago now. But, for a daily blogger, any topic is welcome, right!
No real buttons – instead, pieces of fabric make scrappy buttons
Since buttons are dangerous for babies they were taboo so Paulette stitched on pieces of fabric to look like scrappy buttons – how about that for a little quilting lingo!
Paulette has a little more hand stitching around the perimeter of the quilt that will read “One little monkey” and then it’s done except for the final quilting process which sheqq will complete on her quilting frame back home. So, guess what now? Baby Quilt #2! That’s right – Paulette says every baby needs a quilt not only for a crib but for a carriage or stroller too. I’m not surprised!
Lots of dogs at the park late in the afternoon
Thanks for all the good wishes so many readers sent to Paulette. We both really appreciate it. The good news is she is feeling much, much better and spent most of the day quilting with her friends. Then later she was able to take Molly and Rylie for a walk around the perimeter of the park with her friend Sandy. It looks like she’ll be back to 100% very soon.
After rolling around in the grass, Rylie chews on some palm fronds
I was back on the golf course yesterday afternoon and it was a perfect day for it with temps in the 80’s. Looks like we’re in for a spell of hot weather now so that sounds pretty good to us.
Have a great Thursday, and thanks again for visiting!
